:: Home Theater Components
- Source components such as DVD, VHS, hard-disk
recorder, HDTV set-top box, or DSS satellite dish to supply
the signal to the rest of the system;
- A Dolby Pro Logic, Dolby Digital, or DTS decoder
to separate the encoded soundtracks into separate front and
surround channels;
- A multi-channel power amplifier to drive the
five loudspeakers (an audio / video receiver includes a Dolby
decoder, FM tuner, and five or more) power amplifier channels
in one chassis);
- Five, six, or seven loudspeakers (plus an optional
subwoofer) to reproduce the soundtrack's multiple channels;
- A video display device such as a television
set, big-screen TV (prefer-ably an HDTV set), front projector,
or plasma display panel; and
- Cables to connect all of these components to
each other, and storage rack to hold them.
